RUF Brikett
There are a number of different standards; however, there is no compli-
ance obligation on the part of the manufacturer. The most important standards are DIN 51731 and the Ö-Norm M7135. Both provide a basic quality standard, and each producer of wood briquettes is required to obtain a certificate from an inspection agency to confirm that the wood briquettes are manufactured according to the DIN or Ö-Norm.

A large variety of materials can be used in the manufacture of RUF briquettes, including wood dust and woodchips. The actual material used depends on the respective manufacturer. The only prerequisite is that
the residual moisture of the shavings is below 12%.

Since RUF briquettes feature a higher density than split wood (0.7 kg/
dm³) and therefore higher energy content, you need fewer RUF briquettes to achieve the same heating capacity.

SUGGESTION: If you are buying RUF briquettes through a retailer,
                         please ensure that they comply with DIN 51731 or the
                         Ö-Norm M7135. If buying RUF briquettes directly from
                         a manufacturer, you will be able to verify the quality
                         on site. The manufacturer would be pleased to pro-
                         vide you with further information on his RUF bri-
                         quettes.
